Arbor Health and UW partner for senior home-exercise program

Arbor Health’s new Community Wellness Program is partnering with the University of Washington, Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center to conduct a study in East Lewis County. The result is that 14 community members will have the opportunity to participate in a 12-week exercise class from home—and get paid for their time and effort.
The study is called, “Study for Rural Innovations in the Delivery of Exercise (STRIDE)” and is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The research involves group-based, virtual exercise classes from home.
We encourage all senior citizens who suffer from knee arthritis to pursue the opportunity. For more information, contact Dr. Kushang Patel, the principal investigator for the study by telephone at (206) 285-6082 or by email at stridestudy@uw.edu. Assistance may be available for those who do not have the necessary technology equipment.
